NEW SINGLE BY THE EARLS OF BABYLON!

Hey Everybody – BIG news here! I’m pleased to announce that The Earls of Babylon, my garage rock project with Brian Ray, are back with a brand new single! It’s a dirty, rock ‘n’ soul track called, “Piece Of My Mind”.

This new Limited Edition 7” single is now available on crystal clear vinyl here: https://steveconte.bandcamp.com/merch/limited-edition-7-clear-vinyl-single-piece-of-my-mind-b-w-hungry-the-earls-of-babylon-steve-conte-brian-ray

Or for digital downloads & streaming services go to: https://orcd.co/earlspieceofmymind

“Piece Of My Mind” is our follow-up to last year’s debut single, “My Little Frankenstein”. My pal and label mate, Brian & I had a blast writing this over the internet, from the East and West coast of the country – and then we recorded it together all in one day at Stevie Van Zandt’s groovy Renegade Studios in NYC.

We called in the magnificent Charlie Drayton to play drums (of The Divinyls /Keith Richards’ Expensive Winos fame) and my brother John Conte on bass (of Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes / Ian Hunter).

This one goes out to all the Karens and Kevins of the world who always demand to see the manager.

The B-Side is a mid-sixties gem called “Hungry”, a song you might recognize (it’s our version of the Paul Revere and the Raiders hit!)

I hope you have as much fun listening as we had writing and recording this one!

Little Steven Van Zandt On Conte’s Talents…

The Michael he’s speaking of is Monroe, but the other guy is the important one here – Steve Conte! Some would wonder – What does Van Zandt mean, “the great artist he has BECOME” when they have known of Steve’s talents for decades?

Apparently, the talents didn’t get onto SVZ’s radar until recently…but it’s all good. It’s an honor to have my songwriting & guitar playing thought of in that way by Little Steven – it takes one to know one !

Steve & Scarlet Rivera Of Bob Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Revue Play Minnesota!

On Friday, September 5, I played a show near Bob Dylan’s hometown in Northern Minnesota with Scarlet Rivera, Bob’s violinist from his Rolling Thunder tour, who also plays on his album Desire (one of my faves!) It was a great set of music we played; I sang some, she sang some – and the many Dylan fans who attended loved it! I hope I get to play out there again soon…
