Happy New Year 2024! Let’s recap 2023…

Happy New Year Everybody! Again, I want to say thanks so much for supporting my music & reading my posts/updates/news over the past year, I really appreciate it. To recap:

2023 was a big one for me – I released 2 new singles on the Wicked Cool Records label – https://stevecontewcr.bandcamp.com/?label=3996353189&tab=artists

The first single, “Fourth Of July” was co-written by my songwriting hero, Andy Partridge of XTC. That song’s video can be found on YouTube:

My second single & video – the self-penned, “Girl With No Name”, featured my wife, Hadda as “the girl”...

Both songs were nominated for Coolest Song In The World 2023 on Little Steven’s Underground Garage, ending up on a couple of DJ’s Top Ten lists. (If you haven’t subscribed to my YouTube channel yet, here’s the link:  https://www.youtube.com/@SteveConteNYC/featured )

And this new year is gonna be a great one too; my forthcoming album, The Concrete Jangle (with 5 songs co-written by Mr. Partridge) will be released in April, 2024 – and before then, 2 more singles will be released! Stay tuned for info(Get on my email list here: https://stevecontemusic.com/mailing-list )

I also sang a song for the soundtrack of a Sega video game, for the Yakuza: Like a Dragon video game series titled, I’m Fading Away (credits theme for Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name).

Under sad circumstances, but joyfully, I got to play onstage for the first time with one of my guitar heroes, Chris Spedding – along with Anton Fig & Tony Garnier – during a memorial show at Bowery Electric in NYC for my former “boss” Robert Gordon who passed away from Leukemia early last year.

In Monroe world, I toured the UK with Michael & the boys supporting Blackstar Riders  (featuring Ricky Warwick/The Almighty & Scott Gorham/Thin Lizzy)  with guests Phil Campbell & The Bastard Sons (featuring his actual sons, Dane, Tyla & Todd). It was a great time and a fruitful tour – looking forward to getting back to UK this year. We’re going to play Japan in February 2024 – seek out tickets online.

In February, I took part in a tribute concert to my favorite guitarist of all time, Jeff Beck, with a roomful of amazing guitarists; Oz Noy, Ben Butler, Teddy Kumpel & Matt Beck. Backed by Aaron comess on drums, Richard Hammond on bass & Daniel Mintseris on keys it took place at The Bitter End in NYC.

I also got to play a show with the great Willie Nile in his hometown of Buffalo, NY, share the stage with vocalist Janie Barnett singing a duet of a Cole Porter tune made famous by Frank Sinatra and take my oldest son Zia to see Bruce Springsteen at the Meadowlands (thanks to Stevie Van Zandt!)

I hope I’ll be seeing some of you in this new year – but if you can’t get to a show, there’s always YouTube 😎 And if you haven’t subscribed to my YouTube channel yet, here’s the link: https://www.youtube.com/@SteveConteNYC/featured

Thank you again and take care!

All the best,

Steve

STEVE CONTE’S MUSICAL HISTORY TOUR…
